The official Fortnite Twitter was hacked today, with two tweets appearing on the account for less than a minute before being deleted.

One of the tweets, which has since been deleted, but not before we screenshotted it.

One of the tweets, shown above, said “4PF SHIT GANG BIZ”. We have no idea what that means.

Another tweet, which we sadly did not get get a screenshot of, instructed Twitter users to follow the Twitter account cal086. As of writing this sentence, the account only has one tweet, follows only 12 people, and has 6,066 followers. Their follower count is also growing rapidly, now being at 6,191.

Almost every single reply to the single tweet says something along the lines of “REVERT”.

It can be assumed that the hack was due to fans’ anger over Fortnite’s latest patch, which made a lot of unfavourable changes to the game.

The v7.40 patch for Fortnite added Pop-up Cup settings to the game, but these settings were reverted with the v8.20 patch.

The changes in the v7.40 patch were as follows:

  • 50 Health (or Shield) based on your health when elimination occurs.
  • 50/50/50 materials dropped on elimination.
  • 500/500/500 cap on materials.
  • Harvest rate increased by 40%

Epic said that the reason they removed the changes in the v8.20 patch was because of ‘an unhealthy level of aggressive play’.

The official Fortnite Twitter has yet to respond to the hacking situation. We’ll keep you updated if anything interesting develops.

Note: at the time of posting, the cal086 Twitter account has 8,777 followers.
