Fallout 5 Fallout Bethesda

Fans are upset with the introduction of the new Fallout 76 fridge, a virtual item that costs $7.

The latest debacle within the post-apocalyptic Bethesda MMO has nothing to do with nylon bags or craving deathbut instead a virtual fridge. Added through the game’s latest patch, Patch 13, which added a new Nuclear Winter map and various improvements, this particular item is stirring yet another controversy within the community.

While the patch does introduce some great features to the game, it also added some egregiously priced additions to the in-game Atom Shop. The $7 refrigerator, an item which was highly requested by fans, is only available to buy with real money. And fans are peeved off.

As Reddit user SoapyCapt points out on the game’s subreddit, this add-on is almost as expensive as a Fallout 4 expansion.

“In 2016, Automatron released for $9.99,” the Redditor states. “This refrigerator would be priced $6.61 when adjusted for inflation, roughly 2/3 the price of Automatron. They’re selling it for $7.00 today, however, which is 70% the price of Automatron.

One of these provides a new quest and locations, enemies, armor, weapons, and the other is a fridge.”

Other players point out that in order to purchase both the new fridge and the game’s new Robot Gatherer – an item which enhances gameplay – you’d need to buy the game’s $20 Atom bundle. Egregious? We think so.

As with Fallout 76’s launch, it would appear that Bethesda still hasn’t learnt its lesson. The Fallout 76 fridge is yet another upsetting addition to a game that should have been amazing.
