Google’s new AI tool, Duet AI for Developers, is now generally available. The company introduced the Gemini model that powers it last week and has been slowly rolling it out to developers.

“This always-on collaborator from Google Cloud offers AI-powered code and chat assistance to help users build applications inside their favorite code editor and software development lifecycle tools,” says the tech giant in the official announcement.

Just like GitHub Copilot, Duet AI for Devs is a code and chat AI assistant that helps developers build applications inside their favorite code editor and software development lifecycle tools. It also streamlines running applications on Google Cloud.

You’ll have features like AI code completion & generation, one-click Smart Actions shortcuts to generate unit test & explain codes, faster troubleshoting, & more.

The AI tool is also available for workspace users. Announced back in August this year, Duet AI is a prominent competitor of Microsoft Teams that can be used to do things like summarizing documents, creating presentations from scratch, taking notes & generating meeting summaries, and more.

Google is also making other AI tools, models, and infrastructure available to developers. These include an upgraded Imagen 2 text-to-image diffusion tool and a family of foundation models fine-tuned for the healthcare industry, called MedLM.

The company is also making Gemini Pro API available to developers in Google AI Studio and to enterprises through Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform.
