DFC Intelligence is a strategic market research and consulting firm focused on the interactive entertainment industry. They regularly put out reports which discuss the worldwide video game market and forecasts. This report is available for around $4,000 to interested parties like Microsoft so that they can make informed decisions when it comes to new franchises and other initiatives. Well, DFC Intelligence made some interesting predictions about the Xbox One X a few days ago.

According to the firm, the Xbox One X will sell upwards of 20 million units by 2022. The report also forecasts that by 2021 the console will sell approximately 17 million units, and that would bring the Xbox One family of devices to a little more than 60 million units sold. They also said that Xbox One would get around 25 exclusives between now and 2018. That number seems high but given the fact that Microsoft is working with many smaller developers to bring games like The Last Night to Xbox One, it’s plausible.

While figures like these can always change, these are definitely strong number and will guarantee support for Xbox One X for many years to come. I personally believe that the Xbox One X will maybe sell more than that because price cuts and other incentives will occur in the future. The original Xbox One has a reputation for being a weak console and many existing owners want to upgrade. Many longtime fans of the Xbox brand view the Xbox One as a disappointment. This report understandably takes a more conservative approach. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when we get the initial sales figures on November 7.
