Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer beta will allow excited players to experience the game’s 64-player multiplayer mode this weekend.

Infinity Ward’s upcoming return to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a highly anticipated title for this year’s holiday season. Before its release the title will see a multiplayer beta; the beta will allow excited fans to test out the game’s new flagship mode.

Taking on EA’s Battlefield franchise, CoD is finally tackling a huge 32v32 multiplayer mode. Called Ground War, CoD players will finally get to experience large-scale warfare with Call of Duty mechanics.

Just like in Battlefield, players will be able to spawn on their squadmates to accommodate for the map’s larger size. Vehicles will also be available: everything from APCs to helicopters will be drivable. Bringing large-scale modes to the popular series has been a pipe dream for well over a decade, but with Blackout proving successful, it’s finally coming.

The upcoming beta will allow Ground War to be played on one map: Karst River Quarry. The map will allow players to utilize the map’s air vehicles to base jump wherever they wish too. Pretty sick.

The public beta will take place on September 21st, but those who have pre-ordered the title will have access on September 19th.
