Blizzard promises 4K support and other possible enhancements for Overwatch on Xbox One X

While Blizzard’s popular hero shooter absolutely dominates the PC gaming world compared to consoles, there is still a significant amount of people playing Overwatch on Xbox One. If you happen to be one of these people and also recently purchased an Xbox One X, you’ll be happy to hear that Blizzard has officially confirmed that the game will be receiving enhancements to take advantage of the system’s power.

A spokesperson for the company told Windows Central that the team will implement 4K support in the future and are exploring other ways that Overwatch can be enhanced on Xbox One X.

The team is currently exploring how the game experience can be enhanced on this platform to leverage the console’s incredible hardware, and is working on implementing 4K resolution in the game on Xbox One X. It is very important for the team to make sure the user interface looks natural on a truly big screen. We will share more details about our plans for 4K support on Xbox One X later.

Overwatch may have stylized, animated graphics that don’t aim to be hyper-realistic in the slightest, but 4K resolution will benefit the visuals either way. If Blizzard can also implement HDR at some point down the line, Overwatch will look stunning on Xbox One X with its vibrant and vivid colors.
