Today, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the general availability of Amazon Q, a generative AI assistant designed to support software development and business intelligence tasks.

Amazon Q, which was earlier said to be leaking confidential data and internal discount programs, offers functionalities for developers and business users. Developers can use the tool to automate repetitive tasks such as code generation, testing, and debugging. It can also answer questions about existing codebases, troubleshoot errors, and manage AWS resources.

Amazon Q is the most capable generative AI-powered assistant available today with industry-leading accuracy, advanced agents capabilities, and best-in-class security that helps developers become more productive and helps business users to accelerate decision making. Since we announced the service at re:Invent, we have been amazed at the productivity gains developers and business users have seen. Early indications signal Amazon Q could help our customers’ employees become more than 80% more productive at their jobs; and with the new features we’re planning on introducing in the future, we think this will only continue to grow.

Said Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Artificial Intelligence and Data at AWS.

Business users can use Amazon Q Business to get nsights from company data. It can answer questions, generate reports and summaries, and even build data visualizations within Amazon QuickSight, the AWS cloud-based BI service.

Amazon Q Apps allows employees to create custom generative AI applications without coding experience. Users describe their desired task in plain language, and Q Apps generates a solution to streamline workflows.
