Apple’s macOS Catalina has just gained support for Apple Arcade in beta. This indicates an imminent release for the next phase in Apple’s macOS development.
Catalina is the next big update for macOS, bringing in new versions of apps like Music and TV to mac users. It’ll also enable users to use their iPad as a second screen with project side-car, and developers will gain the ability to run iPad apps on the new OS.
Apple’s Arcade service has already gone live for iOS 13 and iPad OS users, setting them back $4.99 a month with an optional free trial.
“We are going to take games even further with Apple Arcade, the first game subscription service for mobile, desktop and the living room,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing in March. “We are working with some of the most innovative game developers in the world to create over 100 new and exclusive games to play across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Apple Arcade games will be great for families, respect user privacy and will not have ads or require any additional purchases.”
Apple’s macOS Catalina will roll out later this month, though an exact date has yet to be given.
