Google’s Android P is hitting handsets later this year. We know pretty much what is going to be in it, and we can guess that it’s coming to the Pixels, Nokia and Samsung Galaxy S high-end version’s of the world, what we don’t know yet is what it would be called, and we may have a small hint.

A Huawei P( lite mini users requested Huawei’s support let him know when Android Oreo would be coming to its device, and whether Android 9.0 could have a chance of coming, the support rep replied as follows:

Unfortunately, Google does not reveal it – usually older phones receive a new system when the latest Android Pitstachio is released. Such dates are the secret of Google.

Could it be called Android Pistachio? Perhaps, but its a bit more complicated than that. Google often names its Android versions twice, so Android P could very well be Android Pistachio Ice Cream just like Android Kit Kat was Key Lime Pie and Android Lollipop Lemon Meringue Pie.

A Bloomberg response confirmed that Google was internally calling Android P Pistachio Ice Cream, so that appears to be the origin of this sweet name.

We will know for sure in a month or two as Google wraps up its beta testing of the next version of Android.
