We reported yesterday on a rumour that Alcatel would be releasing a mid-range Windows 10 Mobile handset in December this year.

The handset, the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is rumoured to feature  2 GB of RAM and 16 GB storage, LTE and a large 720P screen, but unusually only has a Snapdragon 210 processor, which we associate with lower-end devices.

Now in an interview with CNET,  Alcatel OneTouch’s senior vice president for North America Steve Cistulli, has confirmed that a Windows 10 handset is definitely on the way.

Cistulli declined to comment on the details of the leak, but confirmed the handset will hit the market before the end of the year, saying “We are very supportive of the Windows ecosystem.”

Cistulli confirmed a Windows 10 device will be sold through at least one US carrier partner.
