Microsoft today released a new firmware update for the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. The latest update, which is being called the “July Update” comes with a number of driver updates which should improve the devices. According to the official changelog, the latest update comes with a driver update for the Surface Pen Settings, Surface Button, and Surface Touch. In addition to these, the July Update also introduces some updates for Intel’s Smart Sound Technology. Here is the full changelog:

  • Microsoft driver update for Surface Pen Settings
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface Touch Servicing ML
  • Intel(R) Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED
  • Intel(R) Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface Button
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface System Aggregator Firmware
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface Touch

If you own a Surface Book and Surface Pro 4, you can get the latest firmware updates for your Surface using Windows Update. To get the updates, open up the Settings app, head over to the Update & Security section, then click on the Check For Updates button to check for the available updates and install them.
