This week, we reported that Google was redesigning Gmail on the web to be more material, modern and gain a new design, it looks like the firm is going a bit further than that now.

According to the Verge, Google is also planning a new confidential more which allows users to set a pin for their emails., This pin can be sent either by text messaging or generated by an app, securing email so that only the intended eyes can see it.

It’s not largely useful for users of personal mail, but for businesses who rely on Gmail, this will be a useful feature.

Microsoft is also adding a similar feature on its web app, and we should expect features like this to be seen as the standard going forward.

Google’s updated email app is expected to be rolling out later this year.
