Earlier this month, we reported that Facebook has started testing Workplace desktop app for Windows users. This app is now available for everyone to download. Workplace Chat app for Windows comes with the same great features of the mobile app plus screen sharing support. Users can either share their full screen or only a specific desktop app that they are using with others. The Workplace Chat app has following features:

  • Has native notifications so you never miss a message
  • Supports voice and video calling
  • Allows screen-sharing
  • Makes it easier to view the latest notifications from your groups
  • Supports 1:1 chats and group chats

“This was one of the most widely requested features by customers, so we built it” said Workplace by Facebook spokesperson Vanessa Chan. You can download Workplace Chat for Windows here. Since Workplace Chat app doesn’t require administrative privileges, anyone should be able to install the app on their PC.

Facebook Workplace lets anyone create a Workplace account that is separate from their personal Facebook account and use Facebook tools to interact with coworkers. Workplace has all the features you can expect such as News Feed, groups, chat and live video. Since most of the users are familiar with Facebook interface, large organisations have started to adopt it. Some of them include Walmart, Friendly Workshop, Heineken, Spotify, Lyft, and Reliance Group.
