Qualcomm arrived big at the Computex 2024 “The PC Reborn” event with a lot of exciting announcements. The tech giant has now said that its AI-friendly processor, Snapdragon X Elite, is coming to tablets and other form factors as well.

Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Samsung are some of the manufacturers that will adopt the chip beyond traditional laptops, despite the initial announcement that the Snapdragon X series is made for Windows laptops only. That means, it’s safe to expect that we’ll see all-in-one PCs, a mini PC, a tablet, and many others.

“The PC is reborn. Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite are the fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever built with AI integrated throughout the system and can deliver multi-day battery life,” Qualcomm boss, Cristiano Amon, boasted during the presentation.

Asus is one of the first companies to adopt the Snapdragon X Elite for the ASUS Vivobook S 15.

The move aligns with the trend of ARM-based devices entering the market. It’s just so golden that even Apple’s famed “I’m a Mac” guy had to step in and take a dig at the iOS makers in a skit during the event.

Justin Long, the actor, is shown searching for a Qualcomm-powered Windows PC, and humorously responds to macOS notifications by considering a Windows on ARM PC instead.

AMD has also reaffirmed its position in the AI chip market. The company launched the new Ryzen AI 300 chips, which will power a lot of desktops like the refreshed Asus Vivobook S (2024) series. It’s said to be the most impressive AI chip on the market for now, with 50 TOPS (trillion operations per second). It is more than its competitors like the Snapdragon X series and Apple M4.
