HTML5 web is used to develop web and mobile apps that are lightweight. Microsoft is now connecting the console and the HTML5 web with the new XBOXIE initiative. Now, you can play web based HTML5 games on your Xbox One using your controller through Internet Explorer which is built into Xbox One OS. Microsoft is showcasing the games that support Xbox One controller on XBOXIE.com.

FAQ:

What is XBOXIE?

With The Xbox One having Internet Explorer as a browser means you have access to play Web based HTML5 games. XBOXIE stands for “Xbox” and “IE” (Internet Explorer) and is pronounced  “Xboxy”.

Why use this site?

Even though the Xbox One can play HTML5 games it doesn’t mean developers are supporting the controller. Most game are aimed at keyboard and mouse. So we at Xboxie search and test each game to make sure it runs smooth and plays well on a controller. So to sum up, if its on Xboxie then you can play it on your Xbox One.

What about the other games?

Playing HTML5 games on a console is new, this means it will take time for developers to include the control pad support, but we are contacting developers and telling them how easy it is to get their game on the Xbox One just by adding support. So over time we plan to work with developers to get more compatible games.
