OpenAI has just recently announced that it’s testing a payment model for usage-based GPT earnings in the GPT Store.
The test, which now is exclusive for GPT Store developers and creators in the United States, is a continuation of the company’s promise back in January when it said that it’d start paying them in the first quarter of 2024.
“Our goal is to create a vibrant ecosystem where builders are rewarded for their creativity and impact and we look forward to collaborating with builders on the best approach to get there,” says the Microsoft-backed AI company in a recent tweet.
In an updated Q&A page, OpenAI said that only those who’d created “popular and engaging GPTs” in the Store are eligible for now. The company then promises to share more details once the test period is over and allow more devs to monetize their work in the near future.
Custom GPTs are only available for ChatGPT Plus paid subscribers. Now, everyone can create their own custom GPTs through the Store, and it’s useful especially if you have certain word prompts or commands that you use frequently all the time.
