Google Chrome

Chrome users are now reporting that Google’s browser no longer offers “Always open files of this type” option, ticking on which was supposed to let them open downloaded Zip automatically. The option is now greyed. However, the same can’t be said about torrent, PDF, and other files as you can still automatically open these files without any hitch.

Chrome 72 and its subsequent versions are affected by the latest bug(Via Techdows). Nevertheless, there is a solution! No, I’m not talking about how to re-enable the option. What you can do here is that chose the “open when done” option, the first option in the context menu. As the name suggests, irrespective of the type, this will open every file immediately after the download is finished. Not a perfect solution but it works.

Google, on the other hand, is aware of the issue and is currently investigating, meaning you can expect the search giant to fix the bug within a few days.

Are you noticing the same bug in Chrome? Do let us know in the comments section.
