We have seen numerous attempts at so-called bezel-less phones but even the best versions are marred by a black bar on at least one edge, where the electronics for the screen connects.
Xiaomi looks about to change that however, according to a new design patent published by WIPO on the 5th February.
The design patent shows a full screen smartphone with rounded corners with a dual camera on the back.
Xiaomi emphasize that unlike other devices there are no borders on any side, with all edges rounded off and the screen extending to half the thickness of the device. This is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S series, but of course taken to the extreme.
By necessity the handset is also buttonless and with only one USB-C port.
Missing however is also any evidence of a selfie camera, but then we have seen companies willing to sacrifice these in the recent past.
