Company IT admins are complaining that a recent Office update has broken Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), a way for admins to manage the distribution of Microsoft updates to their Windows PCs.

Borncity reports the 3rd September update for Office 2016 has broken WSUS sync. The issue is happening on WSUS v3.x (2008 R2), with synchronization failing, and when Office 2016 is removed from the product selection in WSUS, synchronization with Microsoft works again. The error appears to be in the Office update files, with an active thread on Technet where admins are trying to diagnose and work around the issue. An official solution has not been announced yet.
