WNM Near Me has released a major update to their Windows Phone 7 application today.  The free social networking app also recently announced that it now has over half a million users on the service.

QRCodeFor those of you unfamiliar with the app, WNM Near Me is an interesting twist on social networking.  Rather than connect you with your current friends, it helps you make new ones.  The app is available on 7 different platforms, but most of the users are using the Windows Phone 7 app – making it a really easy way to meet other Windows Phone fans.  The app centers around the "Live Stream" – which is similar to Twitter, except that everyone can see, and comment, on anybody’s posts.  The app also supports private messaging, picture messages, free anonymous VOIP calling, virtual gifts, profiles, and more.

WNM Near Me is available on Windows Mobile 6, Windows Phone 7, Windows 8, iPhone, Facebook, Google Chrome, and on the web at www.wnmlive.com.
