waitWPBar, who has been right about a lot of things Windows Phone  8.1 related, reports that we can expect the official version of  the updated OS to reach us only between June and August 2014.

At the same time we can also expect a wave of new devices running the OS.

This corresponds to a similar release pace as Windows Phone 8, which was also widely leaked in Early 2012, but only hit devices around October 2012.

The good news for enthusiasts however is that Microsoft has finally managed to get its Developer Preview program up and running, and WPBar’s sources confirm that the OS will be made available to “developers”, which really means anyone with an App Studio account, from April this year.

While I am sure our readers would prefer Microsoft get WP 8.1 pushed out as rapidly as possible,  given the massive size and complexity of the update I think we would all prefer Microsoft get as close to getting it right as possible before release.

Are our readers happy with “only” the Developer Preview in 2 months? Let us know below.
