At today’s Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL launch event, Microsoft confirmed that alongside the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL, the Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 will also get Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 update. However, Microsoft didn’t reveal much info on when the update will be available to Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 owners.
Microsoft hasn’t confirmed why the update won’t be available for other Lumia devices. However, we suspect that the company isn’t releasing to the update to other devices because of the fact that Windows 10 for Phones is coming soon. It’s worth mentioning that we’ve seen GDR2 running on other devices, such as the Samsung Ativ S – so there’s a tiny chance of other Lumia devices getting the update as well.
For those of you who missed it, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2Â brings goodies such as Bluetooth keyboard support and improved settings layout, ability to pin individual settings to start screen and much more. If you’re a Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 are you excited for GDR2?
