OS Marketshare Windows August

New numbers from Net Applications for the month of August revealed that Windows 8/8.1 is back on growing path after it saw a slight decline last month.

Windows 7 continues to dominate at the top with the OS now over 51.21% market share, down from 51.11 percent in July. Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 combined is now at 13.37% up from 12.48% last month. Windows XP saw a slight decrease to 23.89% down from 24.821% last month.

Mac OS X currently holds a 4.29% share, while Linux holds a 1.67% share. Windows Vista still holds a market share of 3.02%.

After few months of nearly flat growth, Windows 8/Windows 8.1 is now back with the right momentum. As it was rumored recently, Microsoft is planning to release Windows 9 for free to Windows 7 users along with Windows 8 that should encourage hundreds of millions of users to the latest OS.
