Windows 7 to feature easy and fast video transcoding for mobile devices

In case you thought you knew everything about Windows 7, Microsoft still has one or two aces up their sleeves, and this one is sure to help out a lot of Windows Mobile users also.

Windows 7, due on October 22, will feature GPU-assisted transcoding of video dragged and dropped onto Mobile devices in its Device Stage.  This means video will be transcoded to mobile formats up to 5 times faster, with only minimal CPU load.

Microsoft revealed this feature at Computex, and demonstrated it on an Nvidia Ion based desktop transferring a 1080p movie to a Sony Walkman, but there is no reason this feature wont work just as well on our Windows Mobile phones.
