Microsoft has finally made the new Game Mode in Windows 10 official. In a blog post today, the software giant detailed some of the upcoming gaming features for Windows 10 and Xbox One, including the new Game Mode. As we reported previously, the Game Mode in Windows 10 PCs will offer increased performance for games by making it a priority. In case you are wondering — no, the Game Mode isn’t only for UWP games. According to Microsoft, the new Game Mode will work for both Win32 games and games that you can get from the Windows Store which is definitely very nice to see.

Microsoft says this is a “big update” for Windows, so it will be interesting to see how it actually performs:

“Our goal is to make Windows 10 the best Windows ever for gaming. With the Creators Update, we’re introducing a new feature called Game Mode. Windows Insiders will start seeing some of the visual elements for Game Mode this week, with the feature being fully operational in builds shortly thereafter. Our vision is for Game Mode to optimize your Windows 10 PC for increased performance in gaming. This is a big update for Windows; we’re looking forward to Insiders getting their hands on this new feature for further testing, and we’ll have much more to share on what it is and how it works soon, so stayed tuned.”

As Microsoft detailed, the Game Mode will be fully functional in one of the upcoming builds. In fact, some settings for the Game Mode is already available in the recently released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15007.

These new features will be available with the Windows 10 Creators Update to all Windows 10 users as a free update, which is set to be released this April.
