While most of us are happy with 128 kb/sec MP3s there are those who prefer their tunes completely uncompressed, and who have lamented the lack of FLAC support on Windows Phone in particular, where users are much more likely to use the built-in media player.

We have some good news for those audiophiles.

Gabriel Aul from the operating systems group at Microsoft has tweeted the above screen shot, which shows FLAC files playing in Windows Media Player on 10.

Were Windows 10 goes, so will Windows Phone 10, and he notes not just Windows Media Player but any Modern app will also support the technology, presumably using built-in codec support.

Is FLAC support something many of our readers have been waiting for? Let us know below.
