After leaks that detailed a cheaper Galaxy Watch, Samsung officially launched the smartwatch, dubbed the Galaxy Watch FE (Fan Edition). The price? It’s only $199 for the Bluetooth version and $249 for the LTE. But, why is Samsung trying to appeal to entry-level customers instead? What is the South Korean tech giant trying to achieve here?
For a while, Samsung had raised the price of Galaxy Watch’s flagship model due to inflations, and it only makes sense for them to go for an entry-level market to appeal to more audiences and customers.
The 40mm watch, available in Black, Pink Gold, and Silver, features durable Sapphire Crystal glass, customizable watch faces, and new bands. It includes Samsung’s BioActive Sensor for comprehensive health tracking, sleep features, heart health monitoring, and over 100 workout tracking options.
Still, you’re not losing too much for settling for this FE watch, compared to, say, the Galaxy Watch 6 from last year which costs $399.99. The Galaxy Watch FE also integrates seamlessly with other Galaxy devices, offering features like Find My Phone and Camera Controller. You also get Exynos W920 last-gen processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a solid 247mAh battery.
AI is also now coming to Samsung’s wearables. You will get features like Energy Score for analyzing sleep and activity, and Wellness Tips for personalized health advice thanks to AI through the Samsung Health app.
