Get ready to ditch the signature green! In a recent development, WhatsApp appears to be working on a new feature allowing iOS users to change the app’s theme colors. This news comes from WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates, who discovered the feature in the iOS beta version 24.1.10.70.

The “app color” feature, as it is currently called, would offer five different color options at launch: green (the classic WhatsApp color), blue, white, pink, and purple. Notably, the chosen color wouldn’t be limited to a single element; it would be applied across the entire app interface, affecting elements like the unread messages indicator and message timestamps.

Furthermore, WhatsApp has not officially announced the rollout timeline for the theme color option to all iOS users. However, considering the company’s track record of bringing new features to both iOS and Android platforms, it’s likely that Android users will eventually have access to theme color customization as well. (BTW, I’m still waiting for Android’s ‘slide to archive chat’ feature.)

Moreover, While the initial color options may be limited, WhatsApp may expand the palette.

WhatsApp recently also introduced audio sharing during video calls.
