VideoLan has updated the VLC UWP app in Windows Store. This v3.1.0 release brings Chromecast integration to Windows 10 devices. In order to offer efficient streaming experience, VLC is using Quick Sync Video hardware encoding to produce streams. VLC also mentioned that they are also planning to release this update for Windows 8.1 devices. This update will be available for following OS versions.

  • Windows 10 Desktop (x86)
  • Xbox One
  • Windows 10 Mobile (ARM)
  • Windows 8.1 Desktop (x86)
  • Windows 8.1 RT (ARM)
