Windows Phone users who roll back their Windows 10 Mobile handsets to Windows Phone 8.1 are reporting that they are unable to log in to their Microsoft Accounts, leaving their handsets near useless.

Without their Microsoft Accounts users are unable to log in to the store, and unable to download the Upgrade Advisor apps and return to Windows 10 Mobile.

The issue appears to be affecting those who used the Windows Device Recovery Tool to roll back, but some are saying even hard resetting a Windows Phone 8.1 handset will result in the same  “We can’t connect right now. Wait a few moments and try again.” error, suggesting a server-side issue on Microsoft’s part.

There does not appear to be any work around at present, so users are advised to avoid hard resetting or using the WDRT until the issue is resolved.
