One of Microsoft’s strategies with the launch of Windows phone 7 has been to get high profile applications in the marketplace, and one of the ways this has been paying of is by allowing Windows phone 7 users to use applications instead of mobile web pages.

Examples include the Ebay app, Yelp app, and of course also the Twitter app.  Windows phone 7 users visiting the mobile twitter web page will now be prompted to download the twitter app, meaning Windows phone 7 users have one less reason to use the mobile sites.

Hopefully we will continue to see more and more websites improve the user experience of Windows Phone 7 users by releasing applications for their web services (hopefully without Microsoft having to pay for its development).
