Twitter is battling larger social networks for a share of the attention of users, and while the larger companies are leaning heavily into group video calls, the company is looking to try something completely different.
Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi has discovered Twitter is working on a feature called Audio Space.

With Audio Space users will be able to have group voice chat rooms on the service where they can talk to everyone, only people they follow or people they invite.
One imagines that the feature would only be suitable for small groups, given the challenges of understanding people who talk at the same time.
The feature will likely be less resource-intensive to implement, but it also seems unlikely to gather a large audience.
