Update: Turn 10 Studios will bring back permanent double credits to Forza Motorsport 7 soon. In a post on their website they said:

“Secondly, and even more significantly, we will be changing VIP rewards in Forza Motorsport 7. This new system will work like it did in Forza Motorsport 6, offering a 2X base credit bonus after every race. We’ve already started work on this feature and we will release it as soon as possible. Look for more information on this update as we near the release date.”

Forza Motorsport 7: Ultimate Edition came out on Xbox One and Windows 10 a few days ago and since then many gamers have noticed that the VIP Pass is a sham. Beforehand, the VIP Pass gave you a permanent boost to credits. This allows you to level up faster but, more important, earn more credits and buy more cars. Collection is a central theme for Forza Motorsport 7 and VIP Pass doesn’t work the same way anymore.

In Forza Motorsport 7 you only get VIP Mods which can be used for 25 races. That’s it. While that’s quite a lot of races, it’s still a little bizarre given the fact that gamers dish out $100 for that feature. At least I did. It’s been the same for many Forza games in the past, why did they change it now? The answer may lie in the fact that they want to make the game more fair for everyone. However, it’s still unfair to those who paid more because the description didn’t say that outright.

Beforehand, the description said, “VIPs will receive additional benefits including 100 per cent CR bonus Mods”. Now it says “five 100 per cent CR bonus Mod cards (five uses each per card)”. Had I know this I wouldn’t have bought the Ultimate Edition as a gift for my friend Xian. VIP membership doesn’t seem to be worth it anymore.

Turn 10 Studios should rectify the situation by either enabling the old VIP Pass or by giving VIP owners a pack of VIP Mods each week. That’s the only fair solution. Hopefully they’ll do this soon before this controversy generates any more negative press. We’ll keep you posted once we know more and if Turn 10 Studios changes their policy.
