It’s more of a marketing gimmick than an actual thing. Truly bezel-less smartphones don’t exist. Thanks to technological advancements, we might finally see a real all-screen smartphone with no bezel at all by the end of this year. Yes, you heard it right, 2019!
Despite the release of various types of full-screen phones, the highest screen-to-body ratio phone to date is the GalaxyS10+, because the sides of the bezel are narrow, even if the chin is not the narrowest. The highest screen-to-body ratio that you can get is 87.11 percent on the Galaxy S10 Plus. By the end of this year, the value will jump to 100 percent. And hopefully, we’ll have a significant number of handsets with the all-screen display, with more joining the bandwagon.
This develops a lot of anticipation about what those all-screen devices will look like, and most importantly how the device manufacturers will address some of the hardest design challenges associated with developing truly bezel-less display.
While it’ll be cool to look at, we still don’t know who will be first to release a smartphone with zero bezels. Nevertheless, whoever does it, 2019 is going be an exciting year for smartphone enthusiasts.
