Friday last week, M.k, the developer of 3 popular Nintendo emulators Snes8x, VBA8 and VGBC8, unpublished his apps from the windows phone store, citing that he was no longer interested in developing for the w8/wp8 ecosystem. Fortunately, he also published the complete source codes so that any inspiring developer can take over the development of these apps. Today, the first spin-off of these apps have returned to the store.

In this initial release, the apps contain the same exact feature set as those by M.k. More features will be added to future release. Some minor UI changes:

  • No more oversized header.
  • No more rotation anywhere except inside the game.
  • Add tilt effect when taping and holding a ROM

All 3 apps are free. Consider leaving a review to encourage future development if you like the app.

The apps can be found in the Windows Phone store by clicking on these links: Snes8x, VBA8, VGBC8
