On August 14th, it was announced that Gunfire Games was to become a 100% subsidiary of THQ Nordic.
The news was broken in a press release, with THQ Nordic saying the following:
“We are stoked to have Gunfire on board and are very excited about our collaborative future and the projects we will realise together.”
Gunfire Games is an American video game developer based in Austin, Texas. While it’s perhaps most well known for Darksiders III, the studio has also worked on other games such as Chronos and From Other Suns.
We have an official MSPoweruser review of Darksiders III available. The reviewer thought it was a diamond in the rough that feels like it’s falling apart, giving it a 6/10.
The studio was founded back in 2014. It first teamed up with THQ Nordic in 2015, with Gunfire Games developing Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition and THQ Nordic publishing the game.
The press release states that Gunfire will remain an independent development studio under the new partnership, with all active founders remaining in their current roles.
It also says that Gunfire “will continue to create outstanding and unique action adventure games and online/co-op experiences playable on PC/console and VR with full creative freedom and maintained relationships with current publishing partners.”
THQ Nordic have been on a roll lately, including announcing a whole set of brand new games such as Dead Island 2, a new instalment into the Timesplitters series, and Saints Row 5.
