There are rumours that Samsung will be merging the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, and set up the Galaxy Fold series as Samsung’s new Fall high-end experimental range.
To do this however it has to be the everything handset, and this includes supporting Samsung’s S-Pen. We have reported earlier that Huawei was also working on adding stylus support to their Mate X.
Now a new patent has shown up suggesting that Samsung is working on enabling just that. The April 2019 patent, filed at the USPTO, features an updated Samsung Galaxy Fold which can fold both inwards and outwards.
The patent describes a way to accurately recognize the S-Pen even when the screen is partially folded. This is useful for dragging items from one half of the screen to the other over the fold in the screen and writing accurately over the fold line.
The second-generation Samsung Galaxy Fold is expected to feature a larger 8-inch screen and house a stylus slot and should hit the market some time in 2020, likely with an announcement at Mobile World Congress 2020.
