The long-awaited Elder Scrolls mobile game, Blades, is getting a closed beta on iOS very soon.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades was first announced last year at E3. Bethesda described it as a ‘classic dungeon crawler’ that’s been re-imagined for mobile devices, although they’re aiming to get the game on home consoles too.

It was set for a late 2018 release before being delayed into 2019. With no further fanfare, Blades soon faded from most of the public’s memory and it seemed like even Bethesda had forgotten about it.

However, it turns out that that isn’t the case, and Blades appears to be back in action. Bethesda today announced a closed beta for the game, with Early Access soon to follow.

The closed beta is only available on iOS devices for selected participants. It’s under NDA, meaning that players can’t talk about their game experience without being slapped with a lawsuit.

Bethesda say that the Blades closed beta is the full game and players can play as much as they like.

The good news for Android users and anyone not chosen for the closed beta is that Early Access is ‘targeted for Spring’.

Spring in the northern hemisphere begins on March 20th and is set to end on 12st of June so there’s a chance we may not actually see Early Access until we’re quite a way into 2019.

Like the closed beta, Early Access will feature the entirety of The Elder Scrolls: Blades. It also won’t be under NDA, so players can post about and share all the content they want.

You can sign up for Early Access here.
