We expect a lot from Microsoft’s new Edge browser, with the browser meant to be faster, more compatible and more fully featured.

It seems there is something else which we can add as a benefit – also more RAM efficient.

WindowsMania.pl did a test comparing RAM usage of the browser when downloading a 55 MB RAR file.

Looking at the process explorer, while IE11 uses 81.29 MB to download the file, Edge uses a mere 10.51 MB.

Improvements like this should mean Windows phones continue to work better on both high end and affordable handsets, even while our devices become more capable under Windows 10 Mobile.
