Ubisoft’s The Division 2 won’t be launching on Steam, but it will be available on Epic’s competing platform.

The Division 2 will be the first Ubisoft title to launch exclusively on Epic’s platform. Ubisoft’s upcoming Far Cry: New Dawn will still be launching on Steam despite this recent Epic Store partnership.

Before today’s announcement, every pre-order for The Division 2 was only available through Ubisoft’s Uplay service. Now, everyone on PC will be able to pre-order the upcoming MMO on either Ubisoft’s or Epic’s service.

The Division 2’s Steam page is still active although you cannot pre-order the game through it.

Ubisoft’s support of Epic’s storefront is a bold move. As Black Ops 4 moved over the Battle.Net alongside Destiny 2, it has been proven that PC gamers are willing to buy games outside of Valve’s network.
