Matthew Bencke, Microsoft’s General Manager for Developer and Mobile Communications, has revealed the average Windows Phone 7 user downloads 10 apps per month.

From this 2010 study by Admob this is higher than the 8.8 apps an iPhone owner downloads per month, indicating a somewhat more app-hungry population on Windows Phone, which should be good news for developers on the Windows Phone platform hoping for the same app feeding frenzy as exists on iOS.

The numbers is also higher than that for Android, which according to the Admob study also paid much less frequently for apps.

Bencke said Marketplace offered developers the opportunity for Fun, Fame and Finances, and that users volume will follow developers, which should be about time, given that it is often joked that Windows Phone has the highest Developer to User ratio of all the mobile platforms.
