If you are planning to buy the new Surface Pro 7 device, you might have a confusion in choosing between Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 models. I came across a video today which compares the benchmarks of both the models.
As you can see from the image above, Surface Pro 7 Intel Core i7 model will offer up to 14% performance improvement in CPU heavy tasks. But when it comes to GPU heavy tasks, the i7 model will offer up to 85% performance gains. So, if your workflow involves more GPU usage, you might have to buy the i7 model over i5 model anyway.
If you don’t care about the GPU, then you have to decide between i5 and i7 models based on your budget. Surface Pro 7 Core i7 model with 16GB RAM costs $1499 while the Core i5 model with 8GB costs $899. If you want 16GB RAM on Core i5 model, you need to pay $1399. If you want 16GB RAM, I would recommend you to buy i7 model since it only costs $100 more.
