Last night we reported that Steam has officially launched their Chat app for both Android and iOS. The new app comes with various features and allows users to interact with their friends while playing games online.

The company is now offering the APK file of the app to users who don’t have access to the Google Play Store. Seeing the recent incidents involving Google and Huawei, one might argue that Valve is just future proofing its ecosystem in case Huawei losses access to the Play Store. Whatever might be the reason, users who don’t have access to the Play Store can still down and install the APK file to take advantages of all the features. It’s not clear how users might update the app since Google Play Store usually delivers the updates but with the missing Play Store, users will need to manually download and install the APK file to get the new updates.

Nevertheless, it’s still better than not having the app on your device. Currently, not everyone will need to download the APK file but with Huawei’s uncertain future, it might be possible that users will need the APK file in the future. In any case, if you’re interested then you can download the APK file here.
