Spotify has always been available for free and as a paid service, with the paid service naturally being leagues better, that may be about to change.

The firm is tweaking its free service so that it can work better for users. The details aren’t quite clear yet, but Spotify wants its free service to be easier and more attractive to use for mobile users to attract more customers and stoke growth.

As per the Bloomberg report:

With the updated service, free mobile listeners will be able to access playlists more quickly and have more control over what songs they hear on top playlists, mimicking Spotify’s ad-free subscription product. The basic package is $9.99 a month.

Spotify expects to reach about 200 million users by the end of the year, and as many as 96 million subscribers, according to a March forecast. Technology giants Inc., Apple Inc. and Alphabet Inc. are all vying for a larger share of the music subscription market.

An announcement from the firm is expected to be made in the upcoming weeks.
