Snapchat’s war on Windows Phone users has rapidly escalated from warning to banning to this morning removing all 3rd party Snapchat apps from the Windows Phone Store.

Like many I assumed the last action presaged the release of an official app, though permanently banning accounts of people who used 3rd party apps seemed a bad start to this.

Rudy Huyn, who has had contact with the company, however claims no such app is on the way, saying:

Windows Phone Snapchat user Casper Svensrud has not just accepted the situation, but has started a Change.org petition demanding a Windows Phone app, saying:

Make Snapchat for Windows Phone!

We have been waiting years on  an official app for Snapchat on WP, but now Snapchat are blocking us from using 6snap and then it is much more important to make an app! They’re making new features into Snapchat and use money on that, but instead of that they should make an app for Windows Phone! For example SnapCash… Who is gonna use that? I think “no-one” because you must have an exact bank to use that feature so support my petition instead of all the new features for Snapchat and go to Snapchat.com -> support -> Requests and feedback -> Support my incompatible device -> Windows Phone. Just twit them, mail them, send pm on facebook and do everything you can and do your best to make a Snapchat app available for Windows Phone. Share this and spam Snapchat as much as you can so they’re understand what we’re trying to tell them! We’re desperate!https://support.snapchat.com/ca/incompatible

His goal is 5000 signatures, but so far the petition has gathered only 99 signatories.
