Snap, the company behind the popular chat app Snapchat, today announced a partnership with Microsoft Advertising to power Sponsored Links within My AI, Snapchat’s AI-powered chatbot.

Snapchat introduced My AI only in April this year. Since then, over 150 million people have sent over 10 billion messages to My AI. Snpachat users are using My AI to get real-world recommendations and learn about their interests, and more. The Sponsored Links in My AI displays relevant content and experiences to Snapchat users from select partners.

Snap today revealed that Sponsored Links within My AI will be using Microsoft’s Advertising’s Ads for Chat API. This new API from Microsoft allows publishers, apps, and online services to choose the ad formats that are optimal for their audience and display relevant ads. With this support, Microsoft Advertising’s clients in the U.S. and select markets can now display ads through My AI targeting young Snapchat crowd.
“We remain in an early experimental phase to ensure we design thoughtful, useful experiences for our community, and are actively working with a variety of partners to enhance My AI – for both our community and our business – over the coming months,” wrote Snap team.
