Microsoft released a new update for Skype for Mac yesterday. The latest update isn’t a major one, however, it does bring some nice improvements. With the latest update, the input field on chat gets some visual improvements, making it easier for users send images on the chat. Alongside the small UI tweak, there isn’t any other new feature, but, Microsoft has added some new bug fixes with the latest update as well. Here’s the list of bug fixes on the latest update:

  • Improved performance when rendering animated GIFs
  • Fixed an issue where chat texts are blurred when the conversation was dragged between displays.

There are some known issues with the latest update as well, here’s the list of known issues on the latest update:

  • Sometimes the app crashes on Macbooks with Force Touch trackpad.
  • Video Computer stutters when Skype window is minimized during a video call

The latest update for Skype, version 7.8 is now live and you can grab it from here. Keep in mind that you’ll require OS X 10.9 or above to be able to install Skype on your Mac.
