We have earlier reported that Sky is showing little interest in developing a Windows Phone app, but it seems Microsoft may have taken the reins into their own hands and developed the software themselves.
According to Sky TV’s UK forums they were not planning to support the platform, saying:
As Stacey has said we will continue to monitor trends to possibly reconsider our decision in the future.
We appreciate your enthusiasm to discuss the nuances of the argument for W8 support but for the moment the decision has been taken to not support it in the near future.
According to Plaffo.com Microsoft is however telling users in Italy the app is in the late stages of development and could hit the virtual Windows Phone shelves as soon as December, with Microsoft saying:
Hello xxxxxxx, the app SkyGo will come soon, we can not anticipate the date, but these are the first days of December, unless testing issues.
Do our readers believe, given Sky’s previous obstinace, the software is indeed on the way? Let us know below.
