Samsung's Update Tool Disables Windows Update In PCs

Microsoft MVP Patrick Barker today revealed an issue Samsung Windows device owners have been facing recently. When investigating why Windows Update kept getting disabled randomly, he found that Disable_Windowsupdate.exe, which is part of Samsung’s SW Update software is disabling Windows Update. SW Update from Samsung is a tool which will update Samsung’s own software and drivers on the device. All OEMs have similar update tool, but Samsung’s tool disables Windows Update which delivers security updates to the PC.
Samsung customer rep provided the following info regarding this issue,
When you enable Windows updates, it will install the Default Drivers for all the hardware no laptop which may or may not work. For example if there is USB 3.0 on laptop, the ports may not work with the installation of updates. So to prevent this, SW Update tool will prevent the Windows updates.
Hopefully, Microsoft will work with Samsung to fix this issue.
