Microsoft announced the Independent Developers @ Xbox Program (ID@Xbox) which allows independent developers to publish games for Xbox One. First, you have to apply for the developer program. After the application is approved, Microsoft will offer developers free development kits and access to its Xbox One tool set which includes Kinect, Cloud, etc. There is no developer application fees as well. But once you have developed the game, you need to publish it in Xbox Store which involves several thousand dollars. Happion Labs launched their Sixty Second Shooter Prime for the Xbox One through their ID@Xbox program. They have revealed the costs associated with publishing a indie game on Xbox Store. You need at least $3000 to it!
There are three main things that would cost you,
- Localization
- E&O Insurance
- Foreign ratings boards (PEGI,
USK)
Microsoft requires Errors & Omissions Insurance which costs more than $2000. Apart from this, you need to get ratings from various agencies to publish your game in different markets which again costs few thousand dollars. Read more on this from the source link below.
